If you are interested in signing up for
a class, stop by the store ahead of time or give us a call
at (615) 217-4966 to reserve your spot and pay your fees.
Private lessons are also available at $12.00/half hour.
Supplies for the classes are not included in the cost unless
so stated. Of course, we prefer that you buy supplies here
at the store and some classes will have a discount for supplies.
Registration for classes requires payment at time of sign
up.
If you are wanting to learn to knit with
an individual lesson, we strongly recommend an hour lesson.
30 minutes is rarely long enough to pick up very much if
you've never knit before.
Cancellation Policy: Please
be sure you can attend before signing up for class. If you
can notify us a week before class of the need to cancel,
you may be given credit for half the cost towards another
class. Under a week, credit will only given if another student
can be found to fill the space. There is no refund for missed
classes. No make up classes are given and teachers are not
permitted to meet away from the store for makeup classes.
Classes that don't make (have at least 3 participants),
of course we will refund the fee.
Class Descriptions:
Knitting 101: In 4 sessions learn the
basics of knitting. In Session 1 you'll learn about different
kinds of fiber, what all those symbols on the yarn label
are for and how to figure out what needle size you need
as well as casting on and knitting. Session 2 is about purling.
You also learn some pattern stitches and what gauge is about.
In session 3 you'll learn to do various increases and decreases
and why you use different ones. Session 4 is finishing techniques
and some extra things you need to know - sewing a seam,
weaving in ends, knitting in a circle, picking up lost stitches,
and a bit about reading a pattern. Supplies needed: yarn,
straight needles, double pointed needles, a tapestry needle,
crochet hook. Optional but helpful is The Knitter's Handbook
or other basic knitting technique book, circular needle,
row counter and stitch markers. $55.00

to read a simple pattern. Class is $25.00. Two one hour
sessions: 1) chain and single crochet, double crochet. 2)

reading a pattern.
Free Form Crochet: Janet will walk you
through all those great free form techniques and help you
design a free form piece that could then be used for a pillow
or put on a purse. Two sessions, $40.00. Must know basic
crochet stitches - ch, sc, dc etc. Class will require a
bunch of yarns, analogous colors and in lots of textures.
Needle Felting: Learn to make intricate
designs with roving and a needle. (okay it's not ordinary
needle). We'll make an embellished felt scarf and also learn
about how to do 3 dimensional designs. Basic materials for
the scarf are included in the price of the class. $40.00
Weaving: On a knitter's loom weave a scarf.
This is an all day class. You will learn basics of warping
the loom, terminology, and then of course, weaving. Materials

of what to weave for this first scarf, but we'll keep it
simple enough to be sure you finish in one day. Make an
appointment to come in when Meredith is here and pick out
your yarns and get them wound before class. Class fee includes
use of loom & tools for the day only. (Looms may also
be purchased at the end of the class) $65.00

from sport or fingering weight yarn of your choice. The
first 90 minute class will get you started. We'll continue
with the next class and hopefully get done then. $30. Must
know, knit, purl, increases and decreases. Pattern used
will vary.

sleeve sweater that requires no sewing. We'll walk you through
